greenhouses, having been introduced into them ever
since the year 1790. It is a native of the Cape, but
may be considered a hardy greenhouse plant, requiring
only protection from frost in winter, and is more liable
to suffer from damp than from cold. It will grow very
strong and flower abundantly if planted in a rich light
soil, and may be increased by cuttings or seeds: the
latter method is to be preferred, as they ripen in abundance.
