Our drawing was taken from a plant sent us by Sir
R. C. Hoare, from his superb collection at Stourhead,
and who has named it, in compliment to Mrs. Beadon,
an admirer of, and an extensive cultivator of this
handsome family of plants. It is of hybrid origin,
but its parents are not easily ascertained. It is very
distinct from any other with which we are acquainted,
and being of short bushy growth, makes it a desirable
plant, particularly as it continues to bloom nearly all
the year. It is also as hardy as any of the genus, only
requiring protection from frost, and not to be overwatered
in winter. It thrives well in a mixture of
turfy loam and peat, or any light vegetable soil; and
cuttings soon strike root, if planted in pots and placed
in a sheltered situation.
