filaments. Stigma of 3 truncate, keeled, papillose, recurved
lobes. The ripe capsule I have not seen.
This very distinct species, well characterised by its perfectly
smooth and even scape, and many-flowered spathe, is
a native of Chile, and was introduced last year from bulbs
collected in that country by Mr. Hugh Cuming. It requires
a mixture of vegetable earth and sand, and will, doubtless,
like most bulbous plants from the same country, succeed
well in the open air in a warm sheltered border.
Drawn at Mr. Colvill’s Nursery, in July last.
For the explanation of the generic name, see fol. 107.
