stout, compressed, glabrous, suddenly contracted at the top.
Anthers linear, blunt, yellow, thrice longer than the filaments.
Pistillnm shorter than the calyx. Ovarmm globose. Style
filiform, about the length of the ovarium. Stigma large,
capitate.
A flowering plant of this very pretty variety was communicated
in April last, by Mr. Edward Leeds, Nurseryman,
Manchester, who informs us that it is a hybrid production,
raised in that neighbourhood from one of the numerous varieties
of Primula Auricula and P. villosa, or rather ciliata. It is
an extremely showy plant from the brilliancy of its blossoms,
which it produces in great profusion. The tint of colouring
it is almost impossible to imitate. The plant is of very easy
culture, and requires the same treatment as the rest of the
genus.
The generic name is already explained at fol. 5. D . Don.
