bent; pollen ash-coloured. Style smooth, exserted.
Stigma capitate.
For the opportunity of giving a figure of this rare
plant, we are obliged to A. B. Lambert, Esq. who
sent us a fine plant of it in full bloom, that had been
grown at his seat at Boyton. Large plants of it make
a handsome appearance, when covered with numerous
spikes of beautiful blue flowers, which last a considerable
time. Our drawing was taken ahout the
middle of April, and other spikes continued to flower
till near the end of May. It succeeds well in a rich
loamy soil in a sheltered situation, and may be increased
by dividing at the root, or by seeds.
