Root horizontal, ligneous. Leaves large, leathery,
denticulate, ciliate, dotted all over with small punctures
strongly veined underneath, smooth, ot a glossy
green on the upper side, and of a dull pale green on
the lower; lower ones roundly obovate, cordate at
the base, from 9 to 10 inches long, and 7 broad; upper
ones nearly round, cordate, 4 inches long, and about
the same in breadth. Petiole short and thick, nearly
