yellowilh ru-fous-colour : throat and bread white: the quills,
and baftard wing coverts, black: the wings reach only to the
beginning of the tail, which is very long and wedge-lhaped ; the
two middle, feathers are wholly black j the others black above,
beneath reddifli, tipped by a rufous fpot: legs dufky black.
Inhabits Panay, one of the Philippine IJlands, but principally
about Antigue, one of the provinces thereof.
This feems much allied to the lad, particularly in the bill;,
but as I have feen neither, dare not venture to place them other-,
wife than as didinft fpecies.

C IZ E of the Red-backed Shrike: length feven inches and as
half. Bill greyilh brown, as are alfo. the upper parts of the-
body ; beneath rufous white : under the eye, and rather behind
it, is a longitudinal fpot of brown : the lower part and Tides of
the neck, the bread, fides of the body, and thighs, rufous white,
eroded with fine light brown lines: quills greyilh brown, with
rufous margins : tail rufous grey, and cuneiform in lhape ; all the
feathers, except the two middle ones, tipped with rufous white:
legs and claws rufous brown.

three quarters. The bill is black; befet at the bafe with:
bridles:- the plumage-on the upper parts is black*, on the under
red: the crown, nape, thighs, and under tail coverts, yellow :
wings and tail black t legs and claws of the fame colour.
Found at Senegal *.
• In the L e v . M uf. the bird ia brown, not black; and the parts which are
above defcribed as yellow, are inertly of a buff-colour. That jigured in the-
Planehts enlumines is likewife brown, but the crown is yellow.
