altabitur. Humilis autem eft ille , qui opéré
virtutem prædicat. Qui igitur ifta am-
plexus fuerit , révéra humilis fecundum
voluntatem Domini erit. Paucis ergo tibi
liane virtutem commendare cupio , ut vel
inde ex parte vim ejus cognofcas , divinæ
gratiæ auxilio . Humilis inani non ducitur
gloria : non datum fe gerit circa Domini
minifterium , ob timorem ejus. Humi-
lis propriam voluntatem non pondérât ,
veritati contradicens ; fed veritati pa-
ret. Humilis ob proximi profedutn non
invidet , neque lætatur fuper alterius ruina
: gaudet vero potius cum gaudentibus,
& flet cum flentibus. Humilis egeftate ac
paupertate prefïus non abjicit animum, &
in profperitate ac gloria non infolefcit ; fed
in cadem perpetuo virtute perfiftit. Humi-

quod eft fatanicum : fed pacificatorem agit ,
malum pro malo non reddens. Hjumilis
non majores fe tantum honorât, fed &in-
feriores . Humilis totis viribus pietatem fe-
datur. Humilis non corripitur ira non
agit contumeliofe , neque vociferatur, fed
omnia pietatis ergo contemnit. Humilis
non malitiofe ac callide rem gerit, neque
pigrum fe præbet, etiamfi media node ad
opus vocetur : obedientem enim fe man-
datis Domini exhiber. Humilis acerbitatem
dolumve non no vit , fed in fimplicitate
atque innocentia fervit Domino in fandi-
tate , ac pace , gaudioque fpirituali. Humilis
non ebriatur vino , neque ventri in-
dulget, præcepta Domini timens. Humilis
lî verba increpatoria audierit, non obmur-
murat i neque accepta etiam alapa , impatienter
fert : nam difcipulus ejus eft ,
qui crucem pro nobis fuftinuit. Humilis
amorem fui ipfius deteftatur : unde neque
primas tenere quærit j fed fe in hac vita,
velut navis confcenforem, reputat. Humilis
deledatur audire fermones fpirituales , fu-
amque mentem a præceptis Altiflimi non
removet : abnegavit enim feipfum in ve-
ritate propter fpem in Dominum noftrum

neque mèam occulto infirmitatem. Quo-

liberet Dominus a Dæmonum infidiis .
Neque enim nos in quiete ac folitudi-
ne tantum exagitant -, fed & in domo
Domini convenientibus nobis vehementer
infultant ; mafculoriimque, corpora tur-
piter atque idmpudice nos confpicari ef-
ficiunt , & ' ad ipfam impuram ufque
adionem nos falfa imaginatione illudit
Draco ; & quafdam cogitationum fordes
atque quifquilias occulte fubfeminar, ad
conturbandum fratrem , ne pura mente
immaculatis Salvatoris noftri Dei atteu-
dat Sacramentis. Attamen per oculorum
cuftodiam , mentifque attention cm iftum
fuperabit continens , divina coopérante
gratia. Decet ergo nos omni cuftodia
cuftodire cor noftrum ac fenfus : quoniam
magno bello expofiti fumus in hac
vita , & inimicus furit. Sed non pro-
pterea detredandum eft certamen ; verum
corporaliter ' vincamus ejus phantaf-
mata , & illum difrumpi fihamus. Novit
enim Dominus , quanta vexator no-
fter cauteria noftris cordibus per cogita-
tiones admoveat. Non enim ut homo ,
videt Dominus : Nam homo videt in
fadem Deus autem intuetur cor Ce-
terum pugnantium eft , cæftum pugnam-
que non admittere. Qm autem paifio-
nibus acquiefcit , quomodo adverfus il-
las decertabit ? pnefertim cum jam fe
fervum vendiderit voluptatibus , omnique
cum benevolentia tyranno vedigalia pen-
dat. Ubi enim inimicitiæ , ibi bellum :
& ubi bellum , ibi certamen : & ubi certamen
, ibi coronæ. Porro fiqtiis ab acer-
ba liberari velit fervitute , bellum cum
Diabolo committat oportet. In quo qui-
dem bello vidores effedi Sandi , coe-
leftibus digni funt habiti bonis. Sed nos
interpellans forte quis dixerit : Si igitur
ubi adverfus paflîones funt inimicitiæ, ibi
& bellum fieri folet ; quomodo libidinofos
vehementer ab inutilibus paflionibus impu-
gnari cernimus, cum tarnen non bermit-
tuntur iis refipifeere ? Non arbitror ego ,
cariflime , bellum hoc fecundum virtutem
fieri, & ad refiftendum tyranno ; fed ad
obfequendum paflloni voluptatum , atque
libidinis : unde neque voluntate ab inimi-
co feparantur. Nam qui bellum gerunt,
nulla funt inter fe concordia vel foederc
