we find others which are peculiar to this form, viz., remarkable knob-like glands
along the sides over each rib and supported by processes from the anterior ribs*
and posteriorly by the ends of the ribs; and dilated tips to the spinous processes of
the vertebrse serving to support glandular pore-like pits, all of these characters
being common to both sexes.
Males caught at the period (spring) when the eggs of the females were considerably
larger than the head of a good-sized pin did not show any sign of a crest.
