If Megal&ma hodgsoni is really distinct from M. lineata, tlien all my specimens
appear to belong to tbe former species. The Messrs. Marshall, in their valuable
Monograph of this group, give the wing of M. Imeata as 4*5 inches : the measurements
of M. hodgsoni are not given, but it is stated to be a larger bird. My specimens
measure from 5 to 5'3 inches.
This species is a very prevalent form in Upper Burma, and I have seen as
man y as 40 to 50 in one tree. I t is very common about Bhamó, but I did not
observe it in the hills, or in the high country beyond.
