IT was almoft as big as our Englijh Pheafant y its Bill of
a light brown j the Irides of the Eyes yellow j the top
o f the Head yellow, from whence hung down a Creft o f
long fcarlet Feathers variegated with fcalloped black Lines
fet at equal Diftances, which it could ere& at Pleafure, under
which it had green Feathers fcolloped with black reaching
to one third o f its Back; the reft of the Back was cloath-
ed with beautiful yellow Feathers: The fore part of its
Neck, Breaft and Belly of a fcarlet Colour, as were alfo
the fcapular Feathers of the Wings.
T h e firft four Feathers o f all the Rows of Coverts were
o f a duiky yellow, fpotted with dark brown j the upper Coverts
next the Back dark blew and fpotted with black j the
two firft Quills very dark inclining to black, on the extenor
Web of each eight Spots of dulky yellow, the reft of the
'Quill-Feathers of the Colour of the firft Coverts..
T h e long Feathers of the Tail were dark and fpotted
and tipt M yellow; it had on * e upper part of its Tad
long narrow fcarlet Feathers with H H H H M H R M
