DESCRIPTIO.
CAULIS filiformis, erectas; rami fimpliciflimi,
filiformes, long'i, patenti.
FOLIA terna, trígona, acuta, fubulata, margine
ferrata, bafi adprefla, apicem vertus patula,
fexfariam imbrícala.
FLORES terminales, fub-terni, horizontales,
umbellati; pedunculi purpurei, bracreis tribus,
ovatís, coloratis, inftructi.
CALYX. Perianthium tetraphyllum, foliolis
ovatis, vifcofis, purpuréis.
COROLLA vifcofa, fefqui poll i caris, fumma cylindracea,
ad bafin innata, ore arctata ; laciniis
expanfis, fub-ovatis, maximis.
STAMINA. Filamenta octo capillaria ; anthcras
bafi bicornes, ápice acuminata;, inclufae.

SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
HEA TH with tips two horned at the bafe and
within the blofibm, the fhaft without; blofibms
flafk-fhaped, an inch and a half long, the fegments
heart-fhaped and fpreading; flowers growi
n g by threes moftly; leaves g r ow by threes, are
thrce-fided, awl-fhaped, upright and fpreading.
DESCRIPTION.
STEM ihread-lhaped and u p r i g h t ; tlie branches
are qtiite Ample, thread fliaped, long, and fpreading.
LEAVES g r ow by threes, are thrce-fided, fharp,
awl-Ihaped, fawed at the edge, prcfied t o the
l i cm at the bale, fpreading towards the end, and
forming fix angles.
FLOWERS terminate the branches generally bythrees,
grow horizontal, and in b u n c h e s ; the
foot-flalks are purple, having three oval, c o loured
floral leaves.
EMPALEMENT. Cup of four leaves, which
are egg-fhaped, clammy, and purple.
BLOSSOM, clammy, an inch and a half long,
flic upper part cylindrical, fwelled at t h e bafe,
and pinched in at the m o u t h ; the tegmenta
fpreading, nearly egg-fhaped and very large.
CHIVES. Eight hair-like threads. Tips t w o
h o m e d at the bafe, tapered to the points and
w i t h i n the blofibm.
POINTAL. Seed-bud egg-fhaped and furrowed.
Shaft thrcad-fhaped and without the
bloflbm. Summit four-comcrcd.
Native of t h e Cape o f G o o d Hope.
Flowers from July, till November.
