HEATH, with bearded tips within die bloffoni;
the pointal handing out; the bloffom tubular,
nearly cylindrical; leaves growing by threes.
DESCRI PTION.
STEM fhrubby, grow s to three feet high, cylindrical,
upright, flender, downy at the top, the
branches fcldoni divided.
LEAVES growing by threes, linear, between
upright and threading, fmooth on the upper,
and rolled back on the under, furface, Ihining
and dark green.
FLOWERS are commonly three together, bending
a little downward, terminating the branches
near the upper part of the flcm,
EMPALEMENT. Cup double, the inner fourleaved,
ovate, erect, and of a grecnifh yellow:
the outer three-leaved, the leaves fliortcr than the
former, and lying on them.
BLOSSOM tubular, nearly cylindrical, of a light
flefh colour at the bafe, and yellowifh green at
the mouth, which is divided into four equal
nearly creel fegments.
CHIVES. Eight hair-like threads, fixed into
the receptacle. Tips nearly oblong, divided,
bearded, and within the blolfom.
POINTAL. Seed-velfel oblong. Shaft threadfhaped,
longer than the bloffoni, the point bending.
The Summit nearly four-cornered, and
grecnifh.
Native of the Cape of Good Hope.
Time of flowering from November till April.
