SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
HEATH, with beardlefs tips, without the blotfoms,
which arc pitcher-fhaped; cups doubled,
clammy, tiled, coloured, and aim oft the length
of the blotToms; leaves g r ow by threes, even, appearing
cut o f f at t h e p o i n t , and linear.
DESCRIPTION.
STEM ihrubby, upright, a fpan high; the
larger and tinallcr branches arc numerous, c o vered
with leaves, and upright.
LEAVES g r ow by threes, flraight out, appearing
cut off at the point, flat, even, and h a v i n g their
foot-fialks preifed to the branches.
FLOWERS grow in bunches, generally three
together, at the ends of the fmaller branches,
hanging downward; the foot-fialks the length of
d i e cup.
EMPALEMENT. Cup double, preffed t o the
bloffom, tiled; the leaves are e g g-fhaped, clammy,
and flefli-coloured.
BLOSSOM pitcher-fhaped, flefh-coloured at the
mouth, w h i c h has its fegmcnts blunt, fmall, and
upright.
CHIVES. Eight hair-like threads, bent inwards.
Tips beardlefs, and without the bloffom.
POINTAL. Seed-bud nearly round. Shaft
thread-fhaped, the l e n g th of the chives. Summit
four-cornered.
Native o f the Cape of G o o d Hope.
Flowers from July, till October.
