FOLIA quaterna, linearia, incurvata, acuta,
glabra, fubtus fulcata, petiolis breviflimis, adpreffis.
FLORES plures, axillares, in medio cauli e foliis
recti emergentes, pcdunculis fere nullis.
CALYX. Perianthium duplex, exterius triphyllum,
foliolis ovatis, acuminatis, tnterius tctraphyllum,
foliolis fubulads, apice recurvatis.
COROLLA cyUodrica, fubpollicaria, glabra, lútea,
ore aritato, quadrifido limbo refíexo.
STAMINA. Filamenta ocio capillaria, corolla;
fubasqualia, receptáculo infería. Andieris ariftatis.

SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
HEATH, with bearded tips, within ihc blofibrii;
leaves growing by fours, the flowers grow dole
to the fiem, peeping out from amongfl. the leaves,
arc cylindrical, and yellow.
DESCRIPTION.
STEM Ihrubby, (wo feet high, upright, branching
out at the bale, then forming a fimple, pyramidal
fpike, covered by very lhort branches.
LEAVES grow by fours, linear, curved, lharppointed,
and fmooth, furrowed underneath, having
lhort leaf-llems preffed to the branches.
FLOWERS are numerous, growing dole to, and
about the middle of the fiem, peeping ftraight out
from amongtt the leaves, with fenrce any footftalks.
EMPALKMENT. Cup, double the outer threeleaved,
which are oval, and pointed, the hour
four-lcaved, being awl-fhaped, and bent back at
the point.
BLOSSOM eylindrieal,nearan inch long, fmooth,
yellow, and narrow at the mouth, having a fourlobed,
reflcxed border.
CHIVES. Eight hair like threads, nearly the
length of the bloifom, iixed into the receptacle
Tips bearded.
POINTAL. Secd-verTd bell-fhaped. Shaft
thread-fhaped, twitled, and without the bloifom.
Summit four-cornered.
Native of the Cape of Good Hope.
