S P E C I F I C CHARACTER.
HEATH, with beardlefs tips, without the bloflbm,
and very long; bloflbm conical and greenifh,
having the fegments of the mouth blunt, and
ftraight; the flowers grow by threes, at the end
of the branches, hanging down; cup double and
tiled; the leaves grow by threes, are bent backward,
crowded together, and arched.
D E S C R I P T I O N .
STEM fturdy, upright, and a foot high; the
branches are covered with very lhort lelfer
branches, crowded together.
LEAVES grow by threes, are linear, arched,
crowded together, nearly three-fided, reflexed,
fharp-pointed, and very lhort foot-ftalks.
FLOWERS grow by threes, at the end of the
fhortcr branches hanging down.
EMPALEMENT. Cup double; the outer threeleaved,
the leaflets of a broad egg-fhape, Ikinny,
preffed to the inner cup, and tiled; the inner
four-leaved, the leaflets larger.
BLOSSOM conical, twice the length of the cup,
and pale green; the fegments of the border are
blunt, and ftraight.
CHIVES. Eight linear,flat threads. Tips beardlefs,
without the bloflbm, very long, and reddifh.
POINTAL. Seed-bud conical. Shaft threadfhaped,
without the bloflbm, and fomcthing longer
than the chives. Summit four- cornered-
