SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
He a t h , with beardlefs tips, without the bloflbm,
flowers terminating the fmaller branches, nearly
without foot-ftalks, moftly by threes; blofToms
white, pitcher-fhaped, and covered by a woolly
cup; the leaflets of the cup are egg-fhaped, and
flcih-coloured ; the leaves grow by threes, are linear,
blunt, rolled back at the edge, and hairy.
DESCRIPTION.
S t e m thread-fhaped, nearly upright, fmooth,
and growing zig-zag; the branches arc threadfliaped,
and hairy; the fmaller branches are hatrlike,
numerous, and downy.
Le a v e s grow by threes, are linear, and blunt,
the older ones are bent back, the younger ones
fpreading out, the edge covered with long hairs.
F l o w e r s grow at the extremity of the younger
branches, fitting clofe, and moftly by threes;
three fmall floral leaves, preffed to the cup.
E m p a l e m e n t . Cup of four leaves, which are
egg-fliaped, concave, on their outfides covered
with a thick white wool, and on their infides
ftefh coloured.
Bl o s s om pitcher-fhaped, downy, white, and
covered totally by a woolly cup; the fegments of
the mouth are fpread out, and blunt.
Ch i v e s . Eight hair-like threads. Tips beardlefs,
without the blofiom, and black.
P o i n t a l . Seed bud turban fhape, downy,
and glandular at the bafc. Shaft thread-ihaped,
a little longer than the chives. Summit four cornered.
Native of the Cape of Good Hope.
Flowers from February, till June.
