SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
HEATH, with beardlefs tips, without the bloffoms,
which arc hairy, curved, and of a dirty
y e l l o w ; flowers terminate the branches, fitting
clofe to the i t e m : leaves grow by fours, linear,
and covered with l o n g hairs.
DESCRIPTION.
STEM fhrubby, upright, hairy at the top;
branches fcattered, upright; fmaller branches
numerous, and hairy.
LEAVES grow by fours, linear, hairy and
b l u n t ; with very ihort foot-ftalks.
FLOWERS lit clofe upon the ends o f the fmaller
branches, growing folitary, or by twos, or threes;
the foot-flalks are very fhort, having three floral
leaves prelled clofe to the cup.
EMPALEMENT. Cup four-leaved, the leaflets
like the other leaves, and prelled to the
bloffom.
BLOSSOM tubularly club-fhaped, curved, an
inch long, of a dirty yellow colour and hairy;
the fegments of the mouth rolled back.
CHIVES. Eight hair-like threads, curved inwards
at the points. Tips beardlefs, and without
the bloffom.
POINTAL. Seed-bud egg-ihaped, and furrowed.
Shaft tbread-ihapcd and without the
bloffom. Summit four-cornered.
Native of the Cape of G o o d Hope.
Flowers from the month of Auguit, till December.
