pedunculi purpurea, longiífimi, capillares, bracteis
tribus inílructi.
CALYX. Pcrianthium tctraphyllum, foliolis
fubulatis, coloratis.
COROLLA globofa, rubro-purpurea, ore contracto,
laciniis miimtis, reflexis.

S P E C I F I C CHARACTER.
HEATH, whofc tips arc creilcd, and within the
bloflbms, which are globe-fhaped, growing in
clofe bunches, of a reddifh-purple colour, having
very long foot-ilalks coloured ; the leaves grow
by fours.
DESCRIPTION.
STEM upright, a fpan high, very much branched,
the larger and fmaller branches are thrcadfhaped,
and fpread into various directions.
LEAVES grow by fours, are linear, furrowed
underneath, fmooth, and pointed.
The FLOWERS are numerous, terminating the
branches in clofe bunches, the foot-ftalks are purple,
very long, hair-like, and have three floral
leaves.
EMPALEMENT. Cup four-leaved, which are
awl-lhaped, and coloured.
BLOSSOM globe-ihaped, of a reddifh purple, the
mouth contracted, the fegments of which are very
fmall, and bent back.
CHIVES. Eight hair-like threads fixed into the
receptacle. The tips crefied, and within the bloffom.
POINTAL. Sced-vcffel globc-fhaped, and furrowed.
Shaft thread-fhaped, juft without the
blolTom. Summit four-cornered, and downy.
Native of the Cape of Good Hope.
Flowers from Auguft, till December.
