SPECIFIC CHARACTER.

leaves grow by fours, linearly three-tided, smooth
and upright.
DESCRIPTION.
STEM upright, and branching; the fmall
branches are numerous, upright, and fmooth.
LEAVES grow by fours, linearly thrce-fided,
upright, furrowed o n t h e under part and fmooth;
w i t h very fhort foot-ftalks, preffed to t he
branches.
FLOWERS terminate the branches, a r e a litfic
bent downwards, and g r ow in fmall bunches;
the foot-ftalks are thrcad-fhaped, w i t h three linear
floral leaves o n them.
EMI'ALEMENT. Cup four-leaved, the Utile
leaves are awl-fhaped, keeled, furrowed, fmooth,
and preffed to the bloffom.
BLOSSOM pitcher-fhaped, white, and a little
longer than t h e c u p ; the fegments of t h e border
are blunt, upright and threading.
CHIVES. Eight hair-like threads, bent inwards
at the ends. Tips egg-fhaped, brown,
crcfted and w i t h i n the bloffom.
POINTAL. Seed-bud globular, and furrowed.
Shaft thrcad-fhaped and without the bloflbm.
Summit four-cornered.
Native of t h e Cape o f G o o d Hope.
Flowers from June, till September.
