DESCRIPTIO.
CAULIS fruticofus, bipedalis, laxus, fuperne
v Mollis ; rami laxi, lamulofi, ramulis breviffimis,
frequent iflimis, lparfis.
FOLIA quaterna, lincaria, obtufa, glabra, fubtua
fulcata.
FLORES terminales in ramulis, patenti, racemum
Iongvjm formantes; pedunculi brevilfimi,
foliolis tribus, adpreffis.
CALYX. Perianthium tetraphyllum, foliolis
lubulatis, acuminatis, glabris, adpreffis.
COROLLA curvata, clavata, pollicaris, pubefcentia,
luteo-aurantia; oris laeiniis expanfls.
STAMINA. Filamenta ocfo capillaria, curvata,
longitudine tubi. Antheras muticas.

SPECIFIC CHARACTER.
HEATH, with beardlefs tips, juft without the
bloffoms, which arc curved, cylindrically club
fhaped, downy, terminating the branches, and of
a yellow gold colour; the leaves grow by fours,
are linear, and fmooth.
D E S C R I P T I O N .
STEM fhnibby, grows two feci high, weak,
and hairy at the top; branches weak and numerous;
the fmaller branches are very fhort, numerous,
and feattcred.
LEAVES grow by fours, arc linear, blunt,
fmooth, and furrowed underneath.
FLOWERS terminate the fmaller branches,
threading out, and forming a long fpike; footftalks
very fhort, with three fmall leaves prefTcd
to die cup.
EMPALEMENT. Cup four-leaved, which are
awl-fhaped, tapering, fmooth, and preffed to the
bloffom.
BLOSSOM curved, ciub-fhaped, an inch long,
downy, and of a yellow gold colour; the fegments
of the mouth fpread outward.
CHIVES. Eight hair-like threads, which are
curved, and the length of the bloiToni. Tips
beardlefs.
POINTAL. Seed-bud club-fhaped, and furrowed.
Shaft thread-fhaped, curved, and without
the blolfbm. Summit four-cornered.
Native of the Cape of Good Hope.
Flowers from July, till November.
