S P E C I F I C CHARACTER.
HEATH, with tips two-horned at their bafe, and
without the bloflbm; the bloffoms arc clubihaped,
an inch and a half long, and yellow;
the leaves grow by fours, arc fniooth, blunt, and
thick.
DESCRIPTION*.
STEM fhrubby, upright, grows three feet high,
and branching; the fmaller branches are fhort,
and grow in whorls.
The LEAVES grow by fours, are blunt, linear,
thick, and have fhort foot-tlalks pretfed to the
branches.
The F l o w e r s are terminal at the fummit of
the fmaller branches, waving, having fhort footftalks,
with three fpathula-lhaped floral leaves.
EMTALEMENT. Cup four-leaved, which are
blunt, fmooth, and nearly egg-lhaped.
Bl o s s om chib-fhapcd, an inch and a half
long, yellow, and tapering to the bafe; the fcgments
of the mouth are large, and rolled back.
Chives. Eight hair-like threads, fixed into the
receptacle. The tips are cleft, twro-homed at
their bale, and without the bloflbni.

furrowed. Shaft thread-fhaped. Summit fourcornered.
Native of the Cape of Good Hope.
