n p H I S is a rnoft beautiful fpecies : in length twenty inches.
The bill is four inches long, not greatly bent, and of a
brownilh yellow : fides o f the head, round the eyes, bare of feathers,
and of a pale colour : the head and part of the neck are
black ; the back part furnifhed with a tuft of very long feathers,
half of them white, half black; the reft of the neck and the
body are ferruginous: the whole wing dirty white: vent and
tail black : legs pale yellow brown.
This inhabits Madagajcar.
