Frondes longitudine stipilum, vel longiores, circumscri])tione lanceolatoe, subcoriaceoe, profunde pinnatifidoe,
enerves, laciniis oblongis, vix unciam longis, oblique patentibus, obtusis, superne viridibus, glabris, subtus
paliidioribus squamulosis; squamis cordalo-ovatis, acuminatis, peltalis, inoequaliter dentatis, membi-nnaceis,
reticulatis, fuscis.
In volucra e squamis iis frondium simulaiuia, sed stipite brevi iiisidcmia.
Capstdæ numerosoe, rufo-fuscoe, longe pedicellatæ, annulo lato cinctæ.
S emina oblonga, vel subreniformia, pallide flavo-viridia.

This plant has the habit of small ¡liants of Polypodium vi/lgarc, h u t it is a true Pleopeltis,—a
genus, it niiist be confessed, not well distinguished from Polypodhm.
