Wc arc indebted to our excellent friend C. S. Parker, Esq. of Liverpool, who has paid particular
attention to the Ferns of Guiana, for specimens of this beantiful and hitherto undescribcd species
of Trichomanes. It wus discovered in Dcmcrara by Mr. .James Ankers, manager of Plantation
Coflcc-Grovc, Esseqnibo ; to whom, through the kindness of Mr. Parker, our collections arc
indebted for many rare specimens of plants of that country, especially aquatic ones,—such as
Parkeria ptaidioides, Marsilea poiycarpa, Hydromystria stoloni/cra, Pontederia carulca, &c. Wc
gladly, therefore, accede to Mr. Parker’s wishes in dedicating this plant to its discoverer.
In Its mode of growth, T. Ankersii is allied lo T. radicans; in its fronds, to T. sinuosum and
crispum, from bolh of which its fructification is totally at variance.
