erecto-patentibus, flexuosis, pinnatim bipinnatimque divisis.
F o lia bifaria, horizontalia, subcoriacea, intense viridia, superne imbricata, cordato-ovalia, acuta, versus apicem serrata,
versus basin marginis superioris cibata, basi inferiori integerrima; ramulorum j/o //« magis elongata,
subfalcata: omnia nervosa, nervo obscuro ante apicem evanescente.
S tip u la foliis triplo minores, imbricatæ, cordatoe, acuminatæ, paululum obliquoe, obscure nervosæ, mucronatoe,
ciliato-dentatoe, ad basin utrinque ciliatæ.

Alth ou gh the description given by Kaulfuss o f his L . A rbu scu la is somewhat at variance with
ours, ye t wc are o f opinion that the same species was intended by him as that which we have here
represented. I t comes from the same group o f islands ; aud at Owhyhee was found so lo n g ago as
during the voyage o f Captain Vancouver.
