There are few spots on the globe , if we may ju d g e from th e plants we have received from Professor
WiUinrn Jameson o f Q uito, that can yield so great a number o f new and curious species o f
Ferns as th e Peruvian Andes. T h e present is one among the many n ovelties which that gentleman
has been so g o o d as to communicate to us. I t is probably allied to A c ro s t. rep tan s o f Cavanilles,
a native o f Quito, which has n o t the caudex radicant and th e fronds ovate, but acute and ciliated,
and the fertile ones are linear.
