T a b . 5. Ceta-ach p c d u n cu la ta .— T h is F ern forms the genus Se llig n ea o f Bo ry . T w o other species, the S . hete-
roca rp a and S. ma a-o ca ip a , ha v e been .added b y Blum e in his F lo ra J a v a .
T a b . 10. Tric/ionianes luceiis.— W e are now satisfied that tiie T . hicens o f this work is not th e T . kicens o f its
author Swartz. Since we publi.shed our figure, we have received Jamaica specimens fi-om D r . Bancroft,
which, excepting only the more copious fructifications, entirely correspond with it. O win g to
D r . Swartz ha v ing made use o f the term “ bipinnatifid,” to express the division o f the frond, we
were led to believe that the primary and secondary divisions were pinnatifid; but they are truly
pinnate in tlie first instance, tiie rachis terete, and n o t in the least winged or margined. T h e present
species we d o no t find anywhere tiescribed, unless, as we suspect, W illd en ow and Sprengel
have, like ourselves, confounded it with tlie true T . lucens. T lie former writer, indeed, says, in
opposition to Swartz’s description, “ frons nullo m odo péndula.” T lie Tiich oma n e s lucc?is o f this
work we have received from Sieber {F lo ra M ix ta , N o . 8 40.) as the T . astplum, n. sp . Kaulfuss
M S S .; but the name is inappropriate, as the receptacle is evidently broken away. W e propose,
therefore, that it should bear the name o f K a u lfu s s ii,— Ú\Q synonyms in our present letter-press
b e in g excluded.
