The oui, spccitueiis tve have seen of this Davallia we received from M. dc Langsdorff, who
gathered them in the remote province of Minus Geraes in Brazil. Its eliaractcrs arc well defined
by Kaulfuss uudcr the name of Davallia bifida, aud he points out some of the marks by wl.lch it
IS best distmguishod from D . tennifolia : he has, however, omitted to notice that it is much smaller,
of a more delicate and pellucid texture, and of a pale-green colour. The laciniæ are broader!
cspcc.aliy towards the extremity, and the sorus is inserted not close to the extremity, but at a
distance from it. It is possible that Charalsso’s specimens, described by Kaulfuss, came from
Minas Geraes, for It does not appear to be a native of Rio.
