ï t is singular that this Fern, one o f th e m o st distinct in the genus Ac rostichum, and which I have
received from Brigadier-General W a lk e r , the late Governor o f St. H elen a , gathered in that island,
and from th e late Dr. Shuter, gathered at Madras, should never have been described b y any B otanist.
I t is remarkable for its deeply and irregularly to o th ed margin, for th e strong veining and semitransparency
o f the barren frond ; wh ilst the fertile one is quite entire at the margin, and similar
to that o f many other simplc-frondcd species o f the genus.
