The nearest affinity with this is perhaps the Hymenophyllum tortuosum. Tab. 129. o f this work ;
but there th e margins o f the fronds are serrated, and the involucre is totally different, b ein g mono-
phyllous, with two small lips at the extremity. The hairs at th e margin and upon the involucres o f
our plant arc n o t always p e r s is ten t; for in one o f the specimens sent to us by Professor \V . Jameson,
th ey arc almost entirely wanting, whilst th ose o f the midrib beneath arc present.
