obscure canaliculata, subtus nei-vo angusto prominente notata: suprema his omnino similia oeque patula, sed
paulo minora.
Capsula: majiisculoe, exacte reniformes, bivalvæ, flavæ.
Semin a numeroso, parva, triangularía.

T h e species most nearly allied to L . t a x i fo l i u m Is, doubtless, the L . g n id io i d e s o f the Cape and
the Mauritius ; which has, however, a much more rigid habit, with shorter and more obtuse, more
erect and imbricating leaves, the upper capsuliferous ones having a tendency to form a spike.
