Stipes pedalis, bipedalis e t ultra, erectus, semiteres, nitidissimus, fuscus, hinc canaliculatus, loevis.
Frons, cbcumscriptione late ovata, pinnata, pinnis 12— 20 , oppositis, remotiusculis, patentibus, lanceolatis, apice
sublonge attenuatis, basi obliquis, sessilibus, profunde pinnatifidis, infimis bipartitis, breve petiolatis, laciniis
oblique patentibus, paululum falcatis, oblongo-lanceolatis, basi latioribus, apice obtusis serratis mai-ginibus
soriferis. S u b sta n tia subcoriaceo-raembranacea. Color intense viridis, nitidus. R a ch is universalis fusca,
nitida, nuda.
S o ri anguste lineares, ad margines, non ad apicem laciniarum.
Involucrum e margine tenui membranaceo, fusco laciniarum formatum, in fiexum.
Capsida fiiscæ, globosæ, sublonge pedicellatoe.
Semina triangulari-globosa, rufo-fusca.

A very common inhabitant o f the W e st Indies, and we think liable to some variation iu the
relative len g th and breadth o f the pinnæ.
Th e East Indian Ptei-is nemoralis o f W illdenow, and the P t . amoena o f Kaulfuss, seem to approach
very near to this, which is however confined wholly to the islands o f the W e st Indies.
