* J. minulissima is, perhaps, an exception to this character, yet there is often a minute lobe, which, if not

This species is n ot uncommon in alpine countries, creeping over decaying leaves and
Mosses. Mr. T u rn e r has received specimens from Kamtchatka, which were gathered by
D r. T ilesius. Wahlenberg says th a t it is cominon throughout all Lapland, n ot only in the
forests, b ut upon (lie loftiest alps ; b ut he and Mohr appear to me to have fallen into an
e rror in a ttrib u tin g to it stipules. “ Stipula;," the former observes, " ad la tus inferius
surculorum ad su n t, foliis paullo breviores e t minus patentcs, de castero iis simillim®."
