PiANT growing In small, crowded, green patcliM, .appearing to the n.aked eye like clusters o f
niinute granules.
Roots very smaU, whitish fibres, distantly scattered, as iu J . serpyllifolia, along th e under
side o f the s tem ; n ot unrrequently issuing in little bundles from ne.ar th e base of th e
stipules. ,
Sa rc a li from two o r th re e lines to h a lf an inch in len g th , extremely slender, filiform,
flexuose. proemnbent, lying over each othe r in an imbricated manner, or crcepmg m a less
clustered form. Each individual is irregularly once or twice divided m a snlxlicbotomous
manner, th e segments varying mnel. in tbe lr length, as well as in the ir direction. The
texture is delicate, composed o f oblong cellules ; the color a pale green.
