T his P l a n t * grows in ra th e r densely-matted patches o f various, b u t generally considerable, extent.
Roots simple whitish fibres, which descend here and th e re from nearly the whole lengtli of
th e unde r surface of the plant.
Stems from an inch to nearly th re e -q u a rte rs o f an inch in len g th , filiform, somewhat
flexuose, rarely sim])le, mo.stly once or twice irregularly divided, w'ith ra th e r slender and
sill,pie bnmehe i. which grailiially lessen towards th e extremity. Ii.norations also
