observable, except before th e exsertion o f th e calyptra, which Schmidel has m istak en for it.
Ne ithe r do th e Gemmæ * , figured by this author, (liis Anthers, see his leones, t. 55. f. 6 ) accord
in situation with those which have be en communicated to me by Mr. Lyell, and which, iu all th e
specimens, were collected to ge the r beneath an incurved extremity o f th e fro n d ; wh ilst those of
