Male plant dw a r f ; inner b ra c ts from a broad base shortly
acuminate.
H ab.— Heaths, moorlands and by sides of ditches ; not uncommon. Fr.
This^may be easily confused with some forms of C. fragihs, but the
leaves are more i r r e g u l a r l y d i v e r g e n t , and with longer setaceous points, the
lamina ends more abruptly above, and is not narrowed at the base the whole
dilated part being scarce i length of leaf. The var. M i iU e n (C. M u l l e n
Juratzka) , is onlyaform with the fringe of the calyptra imperfectly developed;
Mr. Holt finds it at Delamere, Cheshire, as frequent as the ordinary state.
2. CAMPYLOPUS FRAGILIS (DicJis.) Br. Sch.^
D io ico u s ; pale green, densely lea fy above ; leaves straight, narrowly
