Kaalfuss seems to have heen the first to notice that a Marattia of Brasil, the M. alata
of Raddi, not of Smith, had stipitate indusia. Mr J. Smith has hence constituted of it
the Genus Eupodium; on the same principle that Sphmropteris is kept distinct from
Diacalpe.
