Tliis belongs to the Genus Marginaría, according to Presl, whose character
has been already given a t T a b . X IV . I t is figured here, as one o f M r
B au e r’s beautiful drawings, and for the sake o f introducing M r John Smith’s
remarks, namely, th a t “ he considers Marginaría an d Goniopiilebium o f Presl, to
belong to the same Genus, agreeing in their venation and fructification : the
greatest pe culiarity being in habit, according to which he divides the species as
follows G o n i o p h l e b i u m ,— * Lopholepis. Ex. G. pilloselloides. G. ciliatum.

Mr Smitli seems to question what was the original Marginaría of Bory. Tins author
himself expressly tells us, (Nouv. Diet, des Sc. Nat. v. X . p. 176,) that he is acquainted
with six species, of which the two previously described were Polypodium marginatum,
Bory in Willd., and P. incanum, Willd.
