tenues, infimæ opposite in arcum angulatum obtusissimum venulas in sinum laciniarum
frondis directas emittentem anastomosantes, reliquæ furcatæ, venulis parallelis

A gemis of only six species, according to Presl, readily distinguished by the lower
veinlets uniting and forming an arch at the sinus.

scariosum, interius dehiscens.— Filices pleræque tropicæ. Rhizoma globosum,
rarius caudex arboreus, pluripedalis, ereclus. Frondes fasciculatoe, coriaceæ et
herbaceoe, simplices, lobatæ, pinnatæ usque pinnato-decomposite. Venæ internæ,
tenues, in maculas hexagonoideas, ehngalas vel breves anastomosantes, maculis externis
venulas apice libero obtuso lerminatas emittentibus— Presl.

Here the copious hexagonoid reticulations are quite different from every other of the
Pteris group, and resemble those of Sagenia in the Aspidium group. The species are
very numerous, and many of them with fronds so coriaceous and opaque that the venation
is hardly discernible but by maceration.
