This genus, as defined by Presl, is by that author divided into 2 groups ; § I. G y m n o p -
t e r i s . Frons apice fertilis aut frondes dissimiles. Venæ internæ aut prominulæ. Venulæ
in maculas hexagonoideas anastomosantes. To this section belongs our G. aliena. § II.
A n a p a u s i a . Frondes dissimiles, coriaceæ aut herhaceæ. Venæ internæ aut elevatæ costæformes.
Venulæ in maculas transversim et irregulariter parallelogrammas lateribus curvatis
anastomosantes. This is a much smaller section, and includes G. nicotianoefolia, and 3
allied species.
