RêsiNàrâdà* following the example-of-his 'superior, -there appeared before
him after several purifications, -five boys. The- first was- brilliant and bright
as a pure flame ; on hifti Sdng y'Ang Gûtu éonfèried the nam'é' '-ofSéria.
The second, was very weak and delicate, but well formed and beautiful-^ he
received thé name o f In dr a. T h e third was short and Strong; and • Was
named Sdkra(ot Ckâkrà)ï The fourth-was of ablüé co4our} -and looking'a’s
if he would grow to' a great height, with curled hair lîkè a Papûa >t ' on him,
\sras conferred the name of Bdyu. The fifth was öióst beautiful,' but appeàrëd
sad and sorrowful ; to him Sang yang Gr&ru gave-the namoôf Chandra.
'Xhis effected, Sang ydng Guru1 considered that a sufficient dumber of
deities had been created for the charge of SuraMya.
Sdng yarig'Gdru then turned his amorous thoughts -tówards Warsifei," bxit
all thé deifcfes d o s in g it,‘ Bési-Nardda advises him to-take a'woman from the
earth, and offers himself tö gó in search of one. This-being agreed to,
Nardda descénds upon the earth,- and discovers: a móst béaütiftFwrgfn^fiót
yet arrived'ât maturity, at a place called Mddang fSdng ydng Gûru né sboh-ër
beheld lier than-hé became enamoured óf - her*: and‘; givmg'-hèr' the name gf
Sri, he places'Hef-under thé chargé' of Batdra Sdfcra, willf e^eciâl ihjdnetiôhs
tó takè earé-óf bét. When'she arrived at maturity'shébefcitfnè" ‘most'beâiiti-
ful, afid it so happens that Batdra Wisnu beholds her by accidéhtf: "they
immediately feel a mutual passion, and Wisnu obtains his desifrei " When
Sdng 'ydftg^Gvru hears of it, hé becomes highly -enraged Batdra Wisnu
is cast out from Suraldya-arid thrown upon the earth,' air a plae'e^ calïêd
Waringen pitié, or the seven banyan trees. •

There was a woman of the name o f Sinta, whoresided, on the e a rth ,
who had a yoiinger sister named Ldndap. Sinta dreamt on‘e‘night that she
was sleeping With a Panditaÿ named Péd Gdnà : after a few months sîfè-'Mt
herself prégnant, and at the expiration of nine:,,she was delivered öf a

wife from among the Widaddri of Suraldya!,1'&nd recommended iSri: as a
