be« — This Scallop is much lefs than the former, otherwife it is in
many Things, much like it, that being ever of a Stone Colour; it
differs in that it is redish and curiously marbled, both about the Bottom
and on the upper part of the bigger Shell: alfo it agrees in the
Hollownefs of the leffer or under Shell, fo as to be dished outwardly;
in the number of Ridges, which are in this about fourteen: alfo in the
oblique Notches upon the Hinge; which yet in this fteem to be more
than in the former, at is expreffed in the next Draught,

alfo the Channells are fmooth and without ftreaked, whereas the Channels
of the English Shell are as thick and deep ftreaked as the Ridges.
Again the Sides o f thefe Ridges in this Shell are more at right Angles;
whereas in that they are flatter.
