1'8 in.; petiole 1 to To, (not developed in the younger loaves). Pedunclo and raceme
together longer than the loaves. Raccme 4- or S-flowerod, glabrous. Fhivers (to tho tip
of the spur) -75 in. across; floral Iratt lanceolate, half as long as tho Btalkcd ovary.
Scfah sub-equal, ovate-oblong, acrnninate, concave. Fetds clJiptic-lanceolate, snb-connivent,
shorter than the sepals. Lip shorter than the sepals, with a .cylindric spur nearly as
long as the ovaiy, joined to tho column about the middle, without lateral lobes, the
lamina scmi-orbiculai-, its edges deeply incised-fimbriate. Column short, broadly-winged,
the margin tootlicd; anther with a small ti-uncate lip; polUnia 8, clavaie, attached in

The sepals and petals arc white tijiped with green; the lamina of tlie lip is dull
red, its base and tho spiu- being pale yellowish.

Psciido-bulh thin, cylindi-ic, tapering to the apex, with several annular rings,
somewhat curved, 1 to 3 in. long. Leaves broadly elHptic, shortly acinninate, rather
abruptly naiTowed at the base iuto a very long cliannelled petiole, tho edges iindulate;
length 0 to 7 in., breadth 2-25 to 3 in. Scapo about as long as tlie leaves, with a
few distant sheathing hraets] the raceme corymbose and only 1 to 2 in. long, pubernlous.
Flowers '8 in. across (vei-tically); floral Iract large, cordate, acuminate, shorter than the
shoi-tly-stalkod ovary. Sepals sub-equal, sub-orbicular, erecto-patent, externally with short
coarse purple haii-s. Pctah sub-rhomboidal, about as large as the sepals, sub-acute. Lip
obovate, adnate by its base to the column for quite tho whole length of the latter,
3-lobed; the basal lobes narrowly oblong-oblanceolate, obtuse, somewhat falcate, blunt,
resting on the terminal lobe and pointing forwards; tho terminal lobe broad with a lar-^e
lobulatG yellow callus at its base; the ajjex bilobulate, the lobules broad, rounded, and
with crenulate edges, the sinus deep and apiculate at the bottom; the spur consti-icted
at the neck, long, cylindaic, blunt, nearly as long as the ovary and lying parallel to it.
Column very short, with the callosities of the hp closely applied to it. Anther acuminate.
Follinia 8, clavatc, attached dii-ectly (without a caudicle) to an ovate, acute gland; stigma
divided into two lialves by the entrance to the spur. Capsule narrowly elliptic, '75

Tho prevailing colour in tho flowers is white; but tho sepals arc tipped with
green externally, and the lip has a blotch of pale violet near the base, the largo
lobulate callosity however being bright yellow.

Fseudo-hulh coespitose, conical, only -5 in. long. Leaves from tho pseudo-bulbs,
narrowly elliptic, acute, tapering to tho sessile base ; length 6 to 9 in., breadth 2 to
3 in. Pednncle and r<iceme together 15 to 24 in. long; the i>eduncl6 stout, puberulous,
bearing several lanceolate sheathing hracfs 1 to 2 in. long; the raceme 4 to C in.
long, many.flowered. Flotoers I in. across, white; floral hraei broadly elliptic, acute
or sub-acuminate, rather shorter than the slenderly stalked ovary. Sejiah elliptic,
sub-acute, spreading. Pcials narrowly oblong, blunt, only one-half the width of the
sepals. Lip spui-red, longer tlian the sepals, adnate to tlie column thix)ughout the entii'e
length of the latter; side lobes large, oblong, sub-falcate, thoii- apiccs converging
and overlapping the base of the apical lobe, sub-acute; apical lobe sub-rcniform, its
apex with two largo sub-obovate blunt lobules separated by a deep triangular sinus;
the upper sui-face bearing a cluster of small yellow calli between the bases of thé
side lobes and in front of the mouth of the spur. Spur slender, long, cylindiic,
slightly curved, pubei-ulous, nearly as long as tho stalked ovary. Colitmn short; stigma
divided iuto two elongated halves by the entrance to the spur; arms of the rosteUum
oblong, blunt and projecting beyond tho lip of tho anther. Pollinia shrunken, attached

At the base of the range to the east of the Jaldacca liver, at an elevation of
about 800 feet; in flower dming April; PantUng, No. 440. Khasia Hills; Lobb,
Ckrke. Manipur; alt. 3,500 feet, Watt.
The flowers, which are pure wliite and have a sweet smell, resemble those of
C, odora, GrifE., although the latter have a spur- longer than the ovary, aud the flowers
and leaves arc not contemporaneous as in this. The specimens of C. odora are very
scanty, but an examination of them leads us to believe that C. odora and C. awjusta
are probably only different names for the same species.

elliptic-lanceolate, acute, gradually tapering to the broad sheathing petiole, not fully
developed "until after the flowering; length when adult 12 to 14 in., breadth 2-75 to
