The flowers of this, the largest sjjccics of the genus yet obtaiueil in India, arc
ycllowish-red in colom-. The specific name is giren on accojint of the rery higli elevations
at which the plant grows. A siieciinen of it collected in 1877 (King's Collector
No. 44o0} was sent to the late Professor Reichcnbach, who, however, never described
it. When his gi-cat Herbarium shall be exhmiicd after its twenty-five years stipulturc
in Vienna, this plant will probably be found to bear a Reichcn'bnchian nmnixscript
name.

The ovary of tliis not having tho usual half-twist, the labellum is superior. The
•«rholc plant is of a pale brown colour, except tho anther -wliich is wiiite, and tho pollinia
which are yellow.

The whole plant is of a pale brown colour, the only exception being the pollinia
wliich arc yellow. The roots arc very thick.

Petals of the same shape but smaller than the sepals, both recurved. Lip shorter than
