Psettdo-hulbs elongated-ovoid, shrunken when in flower, sheathed at the base, 1'5 to
2 in. long, standing from 1 to 1-5 in. npait ou a scaly rhizomo -So in. thick. Leaves ia
pairs, narrowly elliptic-oblong, acute, contracted at the baso into the petiole; length 4 to
7 in. long, breadth -Zo to 1'25 in. Peduuclo terminal, naked below, but with many
small imbricate scaly sheaths just under the flowers, ofsen proliferous from the production
of flowers seyeral years in succcssion on the annually lengthening axis. Raceme 1'5 to
2 0 in. long, laxly fcw-flowered. Floioers 'b in. across; floral Iract largo, scarious,
b r o a d l y ovate, acuto, convolute, longer than tho slender stalked ovary. Sepah sub-equal,
spri;ading, ovate, bluntly acuminate. Petals lineai-, spreading, as long as the sepals,
obtuse. Lip oblong, 3-lobed, the basal half concave; tho side lobes small, oblong, obtuse;

is also white with a large spot of yellow with dull reddish-mottlmgs. Tho sepals
a r e however, figured in the Botanical Magazine (t. 6388) as palo violet tipped with
dai'k violet. In°this, as also ill all tho members of this section (ejcept C. U.okriant),
tho leaves aro deciduous and are absent at flowering time.
