downwards and the apical half forwards. Cohmn kooded, the third or modified stigma
occupying a krgo transverso area above the two fei-tilo stigmas. Anther-cells distant,
each having a depressed elliptic fertUe stigma on its inner side; pollinia broadly ovoid,
their candicles bent at a right angle, and each a tached to a small bro«'a gland;
stamlnodes small, oblong, attached to the fertile anthers near theii- caudielcs at the
outer sides.
Sikkini, in the Lachen valley, at an elevation of about 11,000 feet; in flower in

'J'his species has a superficial resemblance to 77. orbiculare, Hook. fil. The flower
in' that species has, however, a, lip with a short spur, aud the column is very simple;
whereas in this plant tliere is no trace of spur, and the structui-e of the column is
very complicated.

exceeding the lateral sepals, linear, dellexed, sub.-acute, entire. Calujtm winged in its

Entire plant 3 to 7 in. in height; itiber ovoid-globose, haii-y.' Stevi with one or two
short blnnt wide sheaths at the base. Leaves two or three, rising close together near the
•base, uan-owly oblong-elliptic, sometimes slightly oblanceolate, sub-acute or obtuse,
slightly narrowed to the usually short sheath; length 1-25' to 4 in., breadth '3 to
•6-3 in.; steni above the leaves with a single linear bract, often naked. Spihe narrow,
•5 to 2-5 in. hmg, manj'-flowcred. - Flowors 'io in. across, di'ooping' (from the cui-ving
of the ovary); Jloral hraut ovate, acute, very much shorter than the beaked ovary.
