The sepals ai-e piukisli or orauge-coloured cxterually witK pale edges, and the petals
are pale pink. The sac of the lip is yellow and its apical lobe is orange and white,
the column being whito and the anther yellow. The floral bracts and leaves are green,
the latter with three silver lines.

Wliole plant 10 to 30 in. high. Stem glabroiis, stoiit, enveloped in the wide lax
sheaths of leaves or of fallen leaves. Leaves on long petioles, narrowly elliptic or ovateelliptic,
tapoi-ing to each end,.acute or acuminate; the petiole stout, broadly sheathing
in its lower half; length of blade 3 to 6 in., breadth -75 to 1-75 in; petiole 1'5 to
3 in. Peduncle shorter than the stem, glabrous below, pubescent above, beanng several
lanceolate acuminate bracts. Raceme -nith a pubesccnt i-acliis 3 to 8 in. long, manyand
densely-flowered. Flowers sub-globose, -2 xa. in diam. across tho tips of the pieccs of
the perianth; floral Iract ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, pubescent at the edges, equalling
tlie glabrous ovary in length. Sepals eub-equal, broadly ovate, obtuse, sub-conuivent,
glabrous. Petals cuneately obovate, clawed. Lip slightly longer than the sepals, Tvith
a large saccate base and a small decurved entire triangular acute apical lobe; the
inteiior of the basal sac -with two rows of long teeth on the sides and an oblong callus
at the apex of each row. Column veiy short, with a ti-ansverse depression below the

Wliolc plant 4 to 6 in. high. Stem enveloped in the leaf-shcaths. Leaves ellipticlanccolate,
acute, somewhat oblique, especially at the base; length 1 to 1*5 in,, breadth
•4 to '65 in.; petiole noue; sheath about -4 in., very bi-oad. Peduncle short, pubescent

apices. Raceme shghtly twisted; the racliis bracts and ovaries covered with long thin
sub-hispid hairs. Floims nmnerous, rather crowded, ovoifl, -lo in. in diam.; floral hract
lanccoiate, acuminate, bro^vn, conspicuous, longer than the almost sessile ovaiy. Sepals
sub-equal, broadly elliptic, concave, obtuse, densely covered witli minute glandular hairs,
overlapping by thoir edges, the apices slightly expanded. I'etah as long as the sepals,
sigmoidly lanceolate, sub-acute. Lip slightly shorter than the sepals, with a sub-globose
sac at tho base with many setoj inside it, passing gradually into the oblong, sub-acute,
almost horizontal, non-lamellate apical lobe. Column short, with a long beaked rostellum.
Antlwr pyriform, depressed, with a long beak; pollinia narrowly clavate, bipartite, conjoined

The sepals ai-e olivaceous gi-een, their tips being white; the petals and lip arc of a
dirty whito. The bracts and rachis are bro^vu, a colour which, in the stem, passes into
l.ro-wmish-purple. The leaves arc green, flushed with pink towards the edges and beautifully
reticulated with pure white.

Height of whole plant 6 to 12 in., slender, completely enveloped in the loose
sheathing leaf-petioles, the upper part bearing long tubulai- acute bracts. Leaves few,
scattered, ovate-lanceolate to elliptic-acute, the base rounded or naiTowed into the stout
sheathing petiole; length l-o to 3-5 in., breadth -75 to 1-25 in.; petiole -Jo to 1 in.;
peduncle pubescent, bearing several bracts like those of tho stem. Raceme with its rachis
and the floral bracts and ovaries densely glandular-pubescent or almost tomentose, manyiiowcred.
Flowers broadly ovoid, -36 in. long; floral bract shorter than or equal to
the ovary. SepaU sub-acute, ovate, the dorsal narrower; the lateral pau- sub-gibbous,
spreading, sub-acute. Retals falcately oblanceolate, the apex obliquely beaked, crenate on
the outer margin. Lip sub-globularly saccate at the base, the sac with slender sette
inside; the apical lobe ovate, acute, concave, its disc with two thick lamelliE. Cohmn
with a short rostellum; anthej- pyriform, the beak long; pollinia two, nairowly clavate,
bipartite and attached to a long very narrow dark brown gland. Stir/nia orbicular.
