The sepals and petals arc of rather pale olivaccous green, slightly flushed with
brown ; the lip is pale brown with a broad dark baud along the central ridge ;
t h e column is warm reddish-brown below, but green near the summit.

L e n g t h of .the whole plant G to 1-4 in., of which half is the raceme and its
peduncle. Stem rather stout, glabrous. Leaves at the apex of the stem, orbicularovate
to renifoi-m, sub-acute or bhmt, from 1'25 to 1-5 in. long and about as broad.
Raceme longer than the peduncle, pubemlous, with 8 to 14 distant flowers -6 in.
long. Ovary with its pedicel -4 in. long; floral hraet lanceolate, about as long as
t h e slender pedicel. Dorsal sejml ovate-lanceolate, erect ; lateral sepals and petals
linear-lanceolate, sub-falcate, all slightly reflesed. Lip large, three times as long as
the lateral sepals, flat, ovate-elliptic, the apex blunt and rather deeply bifid, the
margins minutely ciliolate, the upper sui-face with a thickened mesial Hue from base
t o apex from which diverge glandular-pubescent branching nerves. Cohmn, rather long,
shai-ply cui-ved at the apex.

A species resembling L. japónica, BL, which however is a smaller, more slender
plant, with a much more deeply bifid lip.
T h e flowers are of a nearly uniform gi'een colour, veined with a darker shade
of the same.

Wliole plant 6 to 9 in. high; the rather stout sism bearing, qiiite close to tlio
ground, a pair of imequal ovate-rotund acute leaves '8 to 1 in. long; the' peduncle
of the inflorescence as long as the raceme, sparsely pubemlous and bearing two distant
linear-lanceolate bracts -5 in. long. Raceme 3 to 4 in. long, puberuloxis, with 12 to 10
s c a t t e r e d flowers '25 in. long; floral Iract ovate-lanceolate, acute, longer than the pedicel
of the ovary. Sepals and petals sub-equal, shorter than the lip, lanceolate, acute,
sub-connivent. Lip fleshy, obcordate and with a thickened mesial line throughout its
e n t i r e length; the apical lobes divergent, broad and blunt, theii' edges recm'vcd and
meeting underneath, the sinus wide, the base much narrowed and with two conical
f o r w a r d - p o i n t i n g teeth at its junction with the short curved column.
